Replacement Theology of Christianity, like that of Islam, undermines the very existence of the Jewish people, and the promises of God, relegating all of God’s commanded Biblical festivals (moedim) to irrelevance, and the trash heap of rejected Biblical doctrine, which is inherited from Rome.
A comment by a certain church leader is engraved in my mind, that today’s return of the Jewish people to Israel is a mere “political accident”, and Israel is not the Jews anymore but the “church”, which is the very essence of what led to the Inquisitions, the Crusades, the Expulsions, the Pogroms, and ultimately the Holocaust and other forms of Antisemitism unto this day, whose recipe was written by that great German Christian theologian, Martin Luther, among other Christian leaders before him.
These painful historical facts in the memory of the Jew continue to drive the Jewish people further from their Messiah.
Replacement Theology, which was spawned by the Roman Catholic Church nearly two millennia ago, was inherited by the Protestant Church, and unfortunately continues in some churches to this day.
Thankfully, many Christians have now rejected that theology. And despite that error of the misled, the God of Israel will have His way. We do not live in theological speculations, but reality.
I warn people against replacement theology every chance I have.
How can an Everlasting Covenant to Abraham be Replaced? The only requirement on Israel's side was circumcision, and Israel continues with that.. So the Promises (Gen 15,17) to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob's descendants continue. Promises of a Great Nation, the Land of Canaan, and blessing to the world.
The Mosaic covenant is different. The requirement on Israel's side was to keep the Law perfectly, at which they failed. But God had already planned for a New Covenant which would not require man's efforts to please God. But as Yeshua taught, the New Covenant did not REPLACE the Old, but Supplemented the Old(Matt 5)
So right now God has TWO covenants in play, one regarding the Nation of Israel, and one regarding everyone in the world (Jews and Gentiles), who confesses Yeshua as Lord and Savior. The latter is the invisible body of Christ, whose members are known only to God (and which may include some Church members also)
God's plan is to bring Both covenants to fruition, with the Lord Jesus Christ reigning from Heaven and on Earth (Jerusalem). God's Will is being Done.
